News: Ofgem announces £450m Strategic Innovation Fund – Current News

31 August 2021, Molly Lempriere.  Ofgem has announced a new £450 million fund to help unlock innovation in energy networks.  It forms part of the regulator’s RIIO-2 price controls, with the financing available over the next five years. Applications can be submitted from 31 August and the fund is being managed in partnership with Innovate UK:

News: Net zero by 2050 is “too little too late”: Scientists make a case for net negative strategies – Envirotec Magazine

August 2021.  A report published on 26 August by an independent group of experts warns that reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 is now “too little too late”, and will not achieve the long-term temperature goals identified in the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C by the end of the century:

8 September 2021.  The National Audit Office (NAO) has released a report charting a litany of failures in the Government’s plans for delivering the now-closed Green Homes Grant, revealing that £1000 is likely to be spent on administration costs for every home which received funding:
