14 December 2020, Roger Harrabin and Simon Read. The government has begun talks with EDF about the construction of a new £20bn nuclear power plant in Suffolk. The Sizewell C site could generate 3.2 gigawatts of electricity, enough to provide 7% of the UK’s needs:

8 December 2020. British energy watchdog Ofgem on Tuesday gave the go-ahead for 40 billion pounds ($53.4 billion) in spending on its utility networks between 2021-26 to help prepare for more renewable power, including a higher than planned limit on grid operators’ returns:

News: Denmark set to end all new oil and gas exploration – BBC News Online

4 December 2020.  Denmark will end all new oil and gas exploration in the North Sea, as part of a wider plan to stop extracting fossil fuels by 2050.  Its government also agreed to cancel its latest licensing round on Thursday, which gives firms permission to search for and produce oil and gas:

1 December 2020, Molly Lempriere.  The UK Government has again failed to publish the Energy White Paper, pushing back the deadline again.  With the start of December, autumn has officially come to an end, but the long awaited energy roadmap is yet to materialize:
